FunContact for Windows Mobile (and how Simply-Basic readers can get it for free!)
For the past few days I’ve been trying out FunContact on my phone running Windows Mobile 6. FunContact, made by VITO Technology, is a contact manager for Windows Mobile that replicates the look and feel of the popular iPhone interface. After trying it out, I’m quite impressed! FunContact costs $19.95, but VITO Technology has agreed to give it away for free to a few lucky Simply-Basic readers!

FunContact

FunContact is an easy way to experience the iPhone interface on your Windows Mobile device. When I’m on the go I hate having to pull out the stylus to click the small on-screen buttons, especially when it’s just to make a phone call. FunContact gives you a finger-friendly way to find, manage, call, and even add contacts. It’s a complete replacement for Window’s Mobile built-in contact manager.
Here’s a video showing FunContact in action:
The Nitty Gritty
FunContact works for Windows Mobile 5 & 6 pocket PCs and only costs $19.95. It is full of features that you’d expect from a contact manager. It is a slight memory hog, however. In my personal tests it used nearly 2mb of memory. Load times were quick. Even quicker was the transition time from portrait to landscape modes on my T-mobile Wing. With its sexy interface and ease of use, FunContact has been put in my permanent Windows Mobile library.
The Contest
Don’t forget to leave your best suggestions for how to improve FunContact in the comments. Readers who leave the best suggestions will get a FREE copy if FunContact or any other software of their choice from iWindowsMobile.com. Winners will be announced on the blog and via email.

Awesome! That’s a pretty cool program. I’ll check it out and leave my thoughts in a bit.
Wow, what a sweet program! I can’t wait to give it a try!
Ok, I’ve tried out FunContact and here’s my thoughts on what could be improved:
Is there a way to make FunContact come with a thumb-friendly onscreen keyboard? I saw that the iWindowsMobile folks make a keyboard product, but it would be cool to have FunContact come with one built in that just works with the contacts (then if somebody purchases the full keyboard it would work anytime). It’s rather disappointing to have such a cool interface only to have to a) use the stylus to type or b) slide out the keyboard and use that. That would make the program perfect for me!
I finally got around to trying this out!! It’s a pretty sweet app. Works great, looks awsom! One thing I saw was that it would be cool to have an option tto view the phone number along with the contact name when you’re scrolling through the contact names. Oh, and I agree with John, it sucks a lot of memory compared to other apps I usually use.
I don’t use Windows Mobile, but that is an awesome looking application. I’ve personally been thinking about getting an Ipode. if I ever go with a windows mobile device though I will check this out.
