New Theme Update “Complete”

Published on November 25, 2007 4 CommentsPrint This Post Print This Post

I am proud to finally have “finished” the new theme for Simply-Basic.com. I call it “Shades of Grey”. If you are reading this via RSS, hop over and check it out. It is quite a different theme from the old one, which was a flat-out use of the BloggingPro free theme. This theme, however, is a compilation of at least three themes. The main two I used for Shades of Grey were BloggingPro by DesignDisease, and Marine by DezinerFolio.

Obviously, the theme isn’t perfect, but I decided I needed to quit tweaking it and upload it so that I could get all the bugs out. So if you notice a bug or have a suggestion for improving the theme, leave a comment here or contact me.

Below is the list of things I still want to complete in the near future:

  • Add attributions in footer
  • Fix IE7 from indenting the first line on my lcode lists in sidebar and footer
  • Tweak footer colors
  • Add related posts code
  • Tweak article headers and positioning
  • Re-add the tag cloud
  • Add LivePreview
  • Finish Top Menu
  • So that’s my to do list. If you see more that should be added, by all means let me know! If it wasn’t so late I would have written a more in depth analysis of how it went. But I am glad that I can start focusing on the content again. I appreciate your patience these last weeks while I worked on this. Hopefully you’ll agree that it was worth it.

Looks great and is actually easier on the eyes than your previous design. I see you took advantage of using multiple themes and combining them into one. Thats what I did with my own design.

Thanks Jeffro! It was more work then I was expecting, but I’m pleased with the results. I’ve already found a few bugs which I’ll have to fix, but overall not too bad so far.

Very nice. Looks slick adn as jeffro said is alot easier on the eyes. Haven’t fiddled around enough to find any bugs, but a few things i could think of is a favicon and the footer seems slightly outta place being so huge. but i like it, looks good

Thanks for the suggestions James! The favicon is on my list of things to do and I’ll try to see how to improve the footer.
