Private Chat With Your Visitors Using Plugoo
If you run your own website you know how important interactivity with your visitors can be. Comments and forums that are a public way of interacting with visitors. There are also Shout Boxes, widgets that work almost like mini-chat rooms. But sometimes you need something more private or something that allows you to give personal attention to visitor’s questions in a speedier way then email.
I recently came across Plugoo, a free tool that lets you privately chat with your website visitors. How does it work? It’s a snippet of code that you paste into your website. This code implements a Flash-based control that looks like the image you see to your left.
I configured a Plugoo widget on my local installation of Simply-Basic.com to test how it looks. Changing the dimensions involved simply editing the height and width attributes in the HTML or adjusting the code via the Plugoo interface and re-uploading to your website. You can also change the color, title, and other attributes of the widget.
You can configure the Plugoo widget to connect with your MSN, Google Talk, AIM, or other messaging service. When someone messages you from your website it sends a message to your instant messaging program. You can then respond to them through your instant messenger and they receive the message on your website.
Chat sessions are private, meaning only you and the visitor who initiated the conversation can read the details of the chat. There are some limitations to Plugoo, however. Currently you can only have one conversation open at a time. Other visitors will see a “Busy” sign until you are available to chat. Their website states there is some form of queuing system, though I did not get a chance to test it.
Currently Plugoo is in beta testing and is free. It would be a good tool for those who need live support on their websites. Though with the current limitations, I see it being better for smaller blogs or personal websites. I didn’t see a need for it on Simply-Basic.com, but head over to Plugoo and check it out for yourself.

Hmm.. sounds interesting. Just writing everything about chat and need some inspiration :)
Thanks a lot..
