Enhance Your Photos With Taggify
A few weeks ago I got an email from Anton, explaining a new service he’s started called Taggify. After checking it out, I was thoroughly impressed, and I think you will be too.
Taggify, a one-man startup, is a service that allows you to enhance your website’s online photos by inserting Facebook-esque tags. Below is an example from Taggify’s website. To see the live demo, click here.
A photo that you’ve added tags to will look like any other image.
However, after the user mouses over a predefined area, the Taggify tag pops up.
Taggify is actually a widget for your website. It generates a small javascript link which you paste into the HTML of your website. You can then add tags to your images directly from your website by using the “Taggify Editor bookmarklet”, which you can easily add to your favorites links. The editor is password protected, of course, for security.
The tags themselves are actually quite useful too. When creating your image’s tags you can use simple HTML, including <I>, <A>, <B>, <U>, <FONT>, and the one I enjoy most, <IMG>, which lets you place an image in the images tag (tricky!). This combination allows you to create professional tags for your images. You can also make the entire tag be a link, so if someone clicks on the tag, it opens a website in a new window. Also, you can change the fade color, opacity, border color, and border width of the Taggify tag.
I’m actually quite impressed with Taggify. It gives new depth to images, and lets you give your website visitors something more personal then a simple paragraph or caption that explains the photo. If I uploaded more images or had a photo blog, I would definitely consider using it. I’ve already recommended that my wife use this for the family blog.
