Hi, I’m a PC, and I Love Safari
I’ve been a Windows user my whole life. I was born that way. The first computer I remember using seriously (for more than a game of Menace on my AmigaOS) had Windows 3.1 installed. I have Windows XP on my laptop, Windows Vista on my PC, and Windows Mobile on my phone. But I’ve got something to admit: I love Apple’s Safari.
Safari, a web browser developed by Apple, has been the default browser on Macs since about 2003. However, it was released as a public beta for Windows XP and Vista users for the first time in July 2007. I’ve finally given it a try on my XP machine, and I’m loving it.
My default browser has been Opera for the last several years. And although that probably won’t change, Safari sure gives Opera a run for it’s money. Below is a screen shot of Simply-Basic running on Safari running on Windows XP (mouseover for larger image).
Why do I like it so much? For one thing, Safari does an excellent job of rendering fonts. The fonts all look smoother and more professional then in my other browsers. In the preferences control panel you can control the level of font anti-aliasing. Yes, I’ve got ClearType turned on, but this feature was quite enjoyable. The browser was also remarkably quite responsive. According to Apple’s own benchmark tests (which ironically were done on an iMac, running Windows XP, running Safari) Safari out performed FireFox, IE7, and Opera in HTML performance, Javascript performance, and application load time. This obviously varys between system set-ups, but it is impressive.
Who knows, maybe I like it just because it looks so darn sexy. The whole interface seemed sleek and well designed. In any case, I’m happily using Safari on my Windows machines. You can download Safari for free for your Windows machines here.

I don’t know if this “test version” of Safari works on PC but on Mac it runs really fast and I do mean fast!

@Fastaf Interesting, I hadn’t heard that the next “edition” was coming out. It would be great to see it on PC.
Apparently there is a Windows version; http://nightly.webkit.org/
Try it, and I hope it is as fast on windows as it is on Mac.
I have always been using Firefox. Recently a friend told me about Safari and about how fast it is. I love it!
@Fastsaf Thanks for the link! I’m going to give it a try here in a little bit!
@Stephany I agree! It’s fun to use and I haven’t noticed it being less compatible then FireFox yet. Thanks for stopping by!
