Recipe Software At Its Finest: YummySoup! [Mac Software] Aug 19 2008 | Be First to Comment!

Mac only software - Recipe programs are usually outside my realm of interest. No offense, I just have no need for them. A new program I came across, however, has made even me want to keep a recipe book. YummySoup!, by Hungry Seacow Software (interesting names, huh?), makes creating and keeping a digital recipe book easy and even enjoyable.

My favorite feature is the easy importing of recipes from high profile sites such as MyRecipes.com, MarthaStewart.com, and others. However, even more intriguing is the ability to import recipes from any website.

Import from Any Site

Importing recipes from any site is simple. Drag the webpage from your browser into YummySoup. In the screen that presents itself (shown below), you…

Easy Screen Sharing to Increase Productivity Jun 20 2008 | Be First to Comment!

On many occasions it’s just nicer to show somebody how to do something rather then tell them how to do it. I recently had such an occasion with Ronald, who promptly introduced me to this excellent piece of software. It’s called TeamViewer, and it’s a free (for personal use) desktop sharing and remote control tool.

Honestly, I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it before (am I the only one?). Downloading and installing it took only a few minutes. After you launch the program you’re faced with the following screen:

On the left is an automatically generated ID and password. You give these if someone is connecting to your computer. On the right you enter the ID of the computer…

SocialSpark: Sponsored Reviews Come Back In Style May 3 2008 | Be First to Comment!

Sponsored reviews are usually characterized by love/hate emotions among bloggers and readers. Some feel they pollute a blogger’s writing, others don’t mind. Personally, I don’t mind sponsored reviews as long as they are adequately marked and are still a benefit to the reader. Enter SocialSpark.

Note: for the sake of up front disclosure, this article itself is a sponsored review, you can tell by the graphic that appears below the post.

SocialSpark is a relatively new service created by Izea (the makers of PayPerPost). Luckily for bloggers and readers alike, SocialSpark has set up a strict code of ethics that governs sponsored posts. For example, all links automatically carry a “no follow” tag. This protects bloggers against search engine…

Copy/Paste Between Computers Feb 19 2008 | One Comment

Just found this interesting site called cl1p.net that lets you copy and paste between your computers via the internet. It works brilliantly. Save your data temporarily to a URL on their servers, then open that URL on another computer. Easy to use, no login needed. I’ll be using this in the future.

Object Bar: My Current Favorite Programs Jan 28 2008 | 7 Comments

We all have our favorite programs, the ones we use constantly and have arranged precisely in order on our desktop. Well, I’m no exception. I have thirteen programs that I use non-stop. I use them so much, I’ve recruited a program just to give me easier access to them: RocketDock object bar. We all use our computers for different things at different times. Here’s the contents of my object bar: my favorite, non-stop use programs.

1.
Program: RocketDock
Function: Application launcher

In order to make the use of my favorite programs easier, I’ve installed a fisheye-esqe dock on my computer. RocketDock is one of the best application launchers I’ve found. It’s easy to use and functions similar to its MAC OS counterpart.…

Enhance Your Photos With Taggify Jan 23 2008 | 5 Comments

A few weeks ago I got an email from Anton, explaining a new service he’s started called Taggify. After checking it out, I was thoroughly impressed, and I think you will be too.

Taggify, a one-man startup, is a service that allows you to enhance your website’s online photos by inserting Facebook-esque tags. Below is an example from Taggify’s website. To see the live demo, click here.

A photo that you’ve added tags to will look like any other image.

However, after the user mouses over a predefined area, the Taggify tag pops up.

Taggify is actually a widget for your website. It generates a small javascript link which you paste into the HTML of your website. You can…
