Hi, I’m a PC, and I Love Safari Feb 10 2008 | 5 Comments

I’ve been a Windows user my whole life. I was born that way. The first computer I remember using seriously (for more than a game of Menace on my AmigaOS) had Windows 3.1 installed. I have Windows XP on my laptop, Windows Vista on my PC, and Windows Mobile on my phone. But I’ve got something to admit: I love Apple’s Safari.

Safari, a web browser developed by Apple, has been the default browser on Macs since about 2003. However, it was released as a public beta for Windows XP and Vista users for the first time in July 2007. I’ve finally given it a try on my XP machine, and I’m loving it.

My default browser has…

I’d like to say welcome to Simply-Basic’s first sponsor: The Sunday Blog. The Sunday Blog is a new site that’s just getting started. What is it?

We are a kind of news organization, and a type of blog. We plan to release new content every Sunday, much as the most important news of the week would be delivered in your Sunday paper! - Source

There are plenty of scripts out there that that use javascript or ajax to create spectacular image gallery effects. CSS Image Gallery from Dynamic Drive, however, uses purely CSS to achieve similar effects. What’s the big deal? By using only CSS, the image gallery is much more versatile in its usage and isn’t effected by users who beef up the security of their browser by disabling javascript. Even more, the gallery looks darn good, too.

Awesome PHP/Ajax To-Do List Feb 9 2008 | Be First to Comment!

While surfing the internet today, I came across something called “The List“. Simply put, it’s a to-do list written in PHP with a MySQL database. It’s actually quite remarkable. It would be the perfect to-do list for a web-based group working on software development, but could be adapted to suite almost any need.

The List would make an interesting addition to WordPress. Hmm, and interesting idea indeed! It’s released under the LGPL license, so it’s easy to adapt. I’m going to play around with it for a while and see how I can adapt it. I’ll report on my findings later. You can visit the release article here, or see a live demo here.
