So I’ve decided that I would like to start doing some contests and giveaways on Simply-Basic.com. The problem? It takes a little money to get the prizes! So I’ve decided to start selling some advertising space on Simply-Basic. Here’s the deal: all revenue I get from ads will first go to pay hosting costs and the rest will be used for prizes and giveaways. With the new sidebar I’ve added, I’ve got room for five more banner ads (125×125) and five text ads as well.

In the last 30 days (updated 4/11/2008) Simply-Basic averaged 4,225 unique visitors and 6,059 pageviews, and it’s growing each month. It currently has a pagerank of 3. The AlexaRank is 599,722.…

It’s a few days old now, but Wordpress 2.3.3 has been released with some security updates. I’ll be upgrading in a little bit, and you should too. You can get it here.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve finished tweaking the theme for Simply-Basic.com. I wish I could say it went with out a hitch, but after I uploaded the theme I started getting a “500 Internal Server Error”. Those are never good! Turns out a plugin was causing an error with my .htaccess, but it should all be working now.

The updated theme sports a wider header, lighter background, and altered sidebar. The sidebar is taken from Forte, a theme that I like a lot. I love the tabbed interface. It lets me have lots of content without all the clutter. Also, the search box has been moved to the menu bar just below the header. It…

I apologize for the horrible lack of updates this last week. I’m getting back into the swing the the school semester, so I’ve had quite a few things going on. Also, I’ve been tweaking Simply-Basic’s theme a little bit more. Nothing major, but I’ve re-done the header and the sidebar. I’ve lightened the colors a fair bit, and the sidebar will be much more functional, including a tabbed interface, and will allow the content area to be enlarged a small amount. The format of the content area and the footer will remain largely untouched, though I may tweak the colors at some point in the future.

Also, I’ve enjoyed the Twitter feed in the sidebar so…
