So I’ve been using my PDA device running Windows Mobile 6.0, and I’ve been looking for some free software. I haven’t found a ton, but two sites seemed pretty good: Freeware PocketPC and Freeware PPC both have a decent selection of software for your device running Windows Mobile. I’ve already downloaded a few themes and software with out any problems. Anybody have any other suggestions for finding free mobile phone software?

Free Software for your Mobile Phone
by John Kolbert as Tech News | Tags: windows mobile

I think a good source of free stuff for your phone is to look for sites that cater to your specific phone. For example, I have a ATT Tilt and tiltsite.com is a great resource for software and information. They have a “Free App Friday” and that usual works on phones besides the Tilt.

@htwo Great tip! I haven’t had the chance to look for a website specific site for my phone yet, but I’ll look into it for sure.
Hey! Thanks for the heads up buddy. I’ll check the sites out.
I’m thinking of reviving my old iPaq PDA. It was kind of a waste of $300, seeing as I ended up mainly using it as an MP3 and movie player. It was neat since it could do DivX but unfortunately with only 32mb or RAM, it struggled sometimes.

@Mike Thanks for stopping by man! Yeah, I’m using the T-mobile Wing. It’s not top of the line but it does what I need. And since I’m cheap, I’m always looking for free software!
@John thanks for stopping by my site too John, and pointing out the header issue. I was mucking around with tabs to shrink the sidebar and the CSS I used messed up the rest of the site.
I’ve had a funny history with phones. The third last one I had fell into the swimming pool. Which was fine, because it was one of those old Nokias. Chucked it into the oven (with the door open at 50 degrees) and let the water evaporate. The thing still works now!
My most recent one decided to keep the keypad lights on all the time. I can’t turn them off, so it drains the whole battery in one day. Another one fell on a tiled corner and put a hole in the screen.
I’m bad with phones, which is why I probably won’t ever invest in an iPhone. That and the fact that as far as I know it’s not open for development yet is it?

Sorry for the double post John, but how do you force CommentLuv to be on? Currently on my site (which is the default) people have the option of unclicking it. Did you simply remove the checkbox and modified the text?

@Mike Wow, you are bad with phones! LOL, sounds like you’re one of those who should get the extra insurance for your phones! As far as the CommentLuv plugin goes, looks like I’m using an older version of the plugin. I’m sure there is something you can delete to make it work or I can email you my version. I haven’t gotten around to updating my plugins for a little while. Let me know.
Well, I might ‘hack’ the source when I get some time and remove the checkbox. It should be pretty straight forward. Shame they don’t have something about it in the Options tab.
Yeah, I’m really bad with phones. I tend to take REALLY good care of them at the start. Until the first small scratch appears… after which I tend to treat them like a badass pimp would treat his hoes.
Ok, bad analogy, but you get what I mean. :)
