Wordpress Admin Theme

by John Kolbert as Useful Tools | Tags:

So today I finally got around to upgrading my Wordpress admin theme. Steve Smith over at OrderedList.com has a killer theme for the Wordpress admin called the “WP Tiger Administration. It has over 40,000 downloads, and I can see why! The theme is visually a huge improvement over the default admin theme.

There are a few quirks with the theme. It uses CSS2, which is not compatible with all browsers. No worries, though. If your browser doesn’t support it you’ll just see the default theme. Overall, I’ve enjoyed using it. It takes some getting used to, as it changes the location of your menu. But with the much better visual appeal, it’s easy to get used to. You can get it here.

This is a very popular admin theme. I think the other major popular one is called Shuttle http://www.brokenkode.com/shuttle I hope the redesigned administrative interface doesn’t look the way it does now. They need to pretty that thing up.

By the way John, I’ve been curious as to why you don’t use permalinks. Also, check me out on Twitter http://twitter.com/jeffr0 and configure your twitter account to accept direct messages :)

@Jeffro I agree, they need a big redesign of the interface. About the permalinks, I set my blog up a while ago, before I was very aware of SEO or other things. So, when I set up my permalinks I chose it to be …/posts/1941… I’ve wished a few times that I had set it up to reflect the post title. I’ve always assumed that if I changed it, people who’ve bookmarked or linked to my articles would get the “Page Not Found” error. Thus, sadly, it remains. And I’m a Twitter n00b. How do I accept direct messages?
