What is RSS?

RSS is a type of internet “feed” that allows users to easily subscribe to blog headlines (among many things). They are read and interpreted by feed “readers” which allow you to view headlines and content from the comfort of your own program.

How are they used on Simply-Basic? Here I publish full article headlines and content. This means that you can read entire articles without ever visiting my website! So how can you get started? Start by downloading or using an online feed reader. If you are looking for a desktop client I recommend FeedDemon, a free program by NewsGator. Also, Google has an excellent web-based feed reader, Google Reader, that makes online RSS management easy.

After getting your RSS client ready, enter the following URL into your progam to subscribe to Simply-Basic: http://feeds.feedburner.com/simply-basic. After you add that URL to your reader you will begin getting updates from Simply-Basic. When I update the blog, you’ll get notified and it will download the article. Sounds great? It is!
